Everton agree £24m deal for Chelsea winger Tyrique George

Everton have agreed a deal worth up to £24m, including add-ons, to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George. The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on Merseyside, initially on loan with an option to buy permanently for £25m. The clubs renegotiated the structure: Everton will pay around £18m upfront, with the remainder in add-ons based on European qualification and appearances, while Chelsea have inserted a 15% sell-on clause.

George made 11 appearances during his loan, starting once, but he impressed manager David Moyes. At the end of his four-month spell, Moyes called him an "excellent boy with an excellent work-rate". The England Under-21 international came through Chelsea's academy and has been available for transfer for the past 12 months. He held talks with RB Leipzig last summer, and a £22m move to Fulham collapsed on transfer deadline day in September 2025.

The deal is now subject to personal terms and a medical. If completed, George will become Everton's second summer arrival, following a £16m deal for Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney. German attacking midfielder Merlin Rohl has also made his loan move from SC Freiburg permanent after a successful spell, while Idrissa Gana Gueye and Seamus Coleman departed at the end of their contracts.
