Two men who travelled to a predominantly Jewish area of north London to film themselves hurling antisemitic abuse at a man for a TikTok video have been spared jail, after a judge handed each a six-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

Adam Bedoui and Abdelkadir Amir Bousloub, both 21 and from West Drayton in Hillingdon, west London, were convicted of a hate crime and sentenced at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 3, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed.

The court heard the pair went to Stamford Hill on Thursday, May 7, with the explicit aim of filming antisemitic content to upload to TikTok. They targeted a Jewish man with abuse, which they planned to post on social media. When police officers arrived, the two tried to flee but were swiftly detained, the Met Police said.

Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke, who oversees policing in the area, said: “These men thought nothing of travelling to Stamford Hill so they could generate social media likes from hateful so-called content.

“There is no place for antisemitic hate in this city and this case carries a clear warning for anyone tempted to commit hate crimes in pursuit of online notoriety. These men were arrested within minutes of the incidents being reported to us.

“They were then charged, remanded to court and convicted 48 hours after the original report.”

In addition to the suspended sentences, Bedoui and Bousloub were ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and 20 days of rehabilitation activity, alongside paying £85 in prosecution costs.
