Rockstar Games has finally broken its silence on the most anticipated gaming release in years, announcing that Grand Theft Auto VI will be available to pre-order from 25 June. The developer confirmed the date in a post on X, saying: “Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will officially begin on June 25 on digital storefronts and at other select retailers.”
The announcement comes after the game was delayed twice – first from an autumn 2025 window, then from May – before settling on a 19 November release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The previous instalment, GTA 5, launched in 2013 and remains the second best-selling video game of all time.

Alongside the pre-order news, Rockstar released a thirty-second video revealing the official cover art. Over a booming synth, the artwork shows protagonists Lucia and Jason above the game’s title, flanked by flamingos and alligators that nod to the fictional US state of Leonida – inspired by Florida. Fast cars, helicopters and motorbikes fill the brightly coloured cover, rendered in the series’ signature pop-art style.
One question remains unanswered: the price. Rockstar did not use Thursday’s announcement to reveal how much GTA 6 will cost, a topic hotly debated among fans and analysts. A 2025 report from gaming industry advisory company Epyllion suggested it could be the first game priced at $100.
Fans are still waiting for a new gameplay trailer. The two previous trailers, released in 2023 and 2025, have amassed a combined 446 million views on YouTube, underscoring the immense appetite for the sequel.
