Jeremy Clarkson has disclosed he has been diagnosed with an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer, breaking down in tears as he shared the news while filming the latest series of ‘Clarkson’s Farm’.
The 66-year-old former Top Gear and Grand Tour host can be seen grappling with the diagnosis in the final two episodes of the fifth season, which were released overnight on Prime Video. His lip trembles as he reveals the assessment to his farmhand Kaleb Cooper and business partner Charlie Ireland.
“Jeremy Clarkson, 66, reveals he has aggressive prostate cancer during filming for Clarkson's Farm.”
Sitting down to discuss harvesting, Clarkson leans back in his seat and says: "I’ve got cancer." A shocked Kaleb replies: "No, you haven’t. Where?" Clarkson adds: "Where it is is of no concern of anybody. I’ve known since May. I had a medical, you remember back in May. I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer and it’s aggressive, but it’s really early so the treatment will be, you know."
He tells them: "I was praying we could get the harvest done and then I could go and get some treatment but it’s going to be slap bang in the middle." Kaleb wipes away tears and says: "Look after yourself, you go and do…if you need anything just ring."
Later in the show, Clarkson discusses his cancer again with Kaleb, girlfriend Lisa, Charlie and Gerald. Reflecting on a difficult year, he says: "So we started the year and I had coronary heart disease and ended it with me with cancer. We can dwell as much as we like on all the bad things that have happened on the farm but I think it is better now at the end of the year to focus on things that have happened that are good."
Kaleb asks: "When will we know if the treatments worked?" Clarkson replies: "I don’t know, I’ve got a blood test today, there’ll be a blood test and then we’ll know. Not for another few weeks. Come on cheer up, it probably did work."
The show then cuts to an image of Clarkson in a hospital bed, where he is later seen undergoing surgery. Ahead of the episodes airing, the TV legend warned fans it would be "a difficult watch" as he begins his battle against the disease.
