Liverpool and Tottenham reshape squads as transfer window heats up

The summer transfer window is in full swing and both Liverpool and Tottenham are wasting no time in overhauling their squads after contrasting campaigns. Liverpool, now under new manager Andoni Iraola after the end of the Arne Slot era, finished a lowly fifth last season despite winning the title just one campaign earlier. With Mohamed Salah's departure expected to be one of many shake-ups, the club has already secured the arrivals of Victor Munoz from Osasuna and Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, a deal wrapped up in February. But Iraola's side have suffered a blow in their pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, a standout performer at the World Cup 2026. Liverpool had shown a willingness to pay £86m for the Ivory Coast star, but Leipzig are demanding over £100m and Diomande has reportedly chosen Paris Saint-Germain as his next destination. The situation could worsen for Liverpool if PSG sell forward Randal Kolo Muani, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham. Juventus chiefs are jetting into France to meet with PSG over a potential deal for Kolo Muani, a move that would free up both funds and a dressing-room seat for Diomande, effectively killing Liverpool's hopes. Elsewhere, Liverpool have made contact with Real Madrid over midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, valued at approximately £52m. However, the 23-year-old, who missed a spot in France's World Cup squad, does not want to leave the Bernabeu. Camavinga is determined to convince incoming Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho that he can be a valuable part of the squad and has told his agents not to listen to any offers. Meanwhile, Tottenham have confirmed their fifth summer transfer signing as they reshape a squad that flirted with relegation last season. The north London club have been active in the market, though details of the latest arrival have not been disclosed.
