Love Island's Ellie Chadwick quits after Finley dumped; hosts claim he saw her as a 'burden'

Ellie Chadwick walked out of the Love Island villa on Thursday night, choosing to leave alongside her dumped partner Finley Maddock – a decision that left Debrief hosts questioning whether he even wanted her there.

The 24-year-old voluntarily quit moments after her fellow islanders voted to send Finley, 23, home. The brutal elimination came during a double-dump that also saw Martha Rothwell removed, following the earlier departures of Jordon Wilson, 28, and Elicia Bailey, 23, who were revealed by Maya Jama as the least favourite boy and girl. The remaining islanders saved Samraj and Mica from the chop.

But it was Ellie's exit – and Finley’s reaction – that dominated the spin-off The Debrief. Former finalists Toni Laites, Shakira Khan and Yasmin Pettet dissected the moment. Yasmin noted that while Finley seemed apologetic, he lacked the defiant “me and you against the world” energy seen in past couples leaving together. “It seemed to me like he maybe didn’t really want her to leave,” she said.

Shakira went further. “It just felt like she was a burden when with him,” she claimed, adding that Finley, after being dumped, was probably thinking: “Buzzing, I’m not attached to anything, I can go and have it off with the PAs around all the towns. Now he’s stuck with Ellie and he’s going to have to prove it to everyone. I don’t think he likes her. It’s really sad.”

The harsh assessment paints a grim picture for the newly departed couple, who now face the public glare without the villa’s bubble. Whether Finley will prove the Debrief panel wrong – or whether Ellie’s sacrifice was for nothing – remains to be seen.
