Manchester United are reportedly preparing an £80m offer for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, despite the Cherries making clear their keystone is not for sale this summer.
The Red Devils are scouring the engine room after Casemiro's departure, having already missed out on Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes. Bournemouth's reluctance is unlikely to deter United, who view the 22-year-old as a key target.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Arsenal have agreed a deal with Leeds United for goalkeeper Illan Meslier. The Frenchman left Leeds as a free agent this summer and is expected to provide back-up to David Raya, with Kepa Arrizabalaga's own future at the Emirates in doubt after being limited to cup competitions last term.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have received a major boost in their pursuit of PSG's Bradley Barcola. Paris Saint-Germain have agreed personal terms with Yan Diomande and Maghnes Akliouche as they reshape their forward line, prompting speculation that Barcola could be allowed to leave. The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield.
Arsenal are also facing interest in forward Gabriel Jesus. Besiktas have established initial contact over a move for the Brazilian, with Vincenzo Italiano speaking positively of him. Jesus, under contract until 2027, could have his head turned by the prospect of regular football. The Gunners have set an asking price of between £18m and £25m, while Palmeiras, Juventus and AC Milan are also said to be interested.
Manchester United are thought to be weighing up a move for Fulham's Sander Berge, according to The Athletic. The 28-year-old is viewed as a player who could help strengthen Michael Carrick's team.
With the summer transfer window open, the flurry of activity across the Premier League shows no sign of slowing down.
