Man Utd agree £50m Santos deal as Arsenal book Meslier medical

Manchester United have struck a £50m deal to sign Andrey Santos from Chelsea, with the Brazilian midfielder set for a medical after the two clubs agreed terms on Wednesday. The move comes as United intensify their midfield rebuild, having also started discussions over a potential £68m-plus move for Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni. French international Tchouameni, 26, is seen as a long-term replacement for Casemiro, though a deal will not come cheaply.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have reportedly booked a medical for Illan Meslier as they look to add a back-up goalkeeper to David Raya. Meslier, 26, is a free agent after leaving Leeds United upon the expiry of his contract, having failed to make a senior appearance for the Championship side last season. The move would pave the way for Kepa Arrizabalaga to depart in search of regular first-team football.

Elsewhere, Liverpool have made initial enquiries over the signing of 17-year-old Mexican attacking midfielder Gilberto Mora from Club Tijuana. The teenager impressed during the World Cup and has a release clause of around £18m in his contract, which runs until 2029. Liverpool's interest is at an early stage, but the player's potential has caught the attention of Anfield scouts.
