Prince Louis is the spitting image of his grandfather Michael Middleton, fans say at Trooping the Colour

Prince Louis may have been on his best behaviour during the King’s birthday parade, but it was his resemblance to a lesser-known family member that caught the attention of royal fans.

The eight-year-old travelled to Trooping the Colour in a horse-drawn carriage alongside his mother, Princess Catherine, and siblings Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 11, while his father, Prince William, rode horseback. King Charles celebrated his official birthday on Saturday, June 13, but it was the youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales who sparked a fresh wave of comments on social media.

“Prince Louis is the double of his grandfather Michael Middleton and growing up fast,” one fan wrote on X, alongside a picture of Louis sitting in the carriage. Others agreed: “Definitely a Middleton that one!” and “He is so like him.”

The three Wales children have long drawn comparisons to other family members. When Charlotte turned 11 in April, fans noted her likeness to both Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II. Childhood photographs of the two women were placed alongside a picture of Charlotte on Facebook, and commenters were split over which royal she most resembled, while others insisted she was “a beautiful young girl in her own right.”

On Saturday, Charlotte matched her mother in an off-white dress, complementing Kate’s light blue outfit, which tied the family together as a cohesive unit. Louis and George wore matching navy blue suits.

But it was the cheeky youngest prince — known for stealing the show at royal events — who prompted the most chatter, even though he was well-behaved during the carriage ride. His striking resemblance to his maternal grandfather, Michael Middleton, was the talk of the day, as fans marvelled at how much all three children have grown.
