Radek Vitek tells Man Utd he wants transfer: 'I am ready to be number one'

Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek has confirmed he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer after playing the second half of the Red Devils' 1-0 pre-season friendly defeat to Wrexham in Helsinki on Saturday. The 22-year-old, who swept Bristol City's end-of-year awards during an impressive Championship loan last season, told reporters: "I feel great and ready to go again somewhere to be, hopefully, number one, so we will see." Vitek, aware that Senne Lammens has nailed down the No.1 spot at United, added: "At the moment, I am still here, but we will see. I hope so. I hope there will be some interest. I think you will know when things are more concrete." Asked whether he would prefer a permanent move or another loan, the Czech Republic youth international replied: "I am ready for both, to be fair. Depends what the club wants and also depends on the options. We will see. There have been a few interests on the table. But we hope to get the best one and hopefully it will happen soon." Hull City and Ipswich Town, both promoted to the Premier League last season, are reportedly among the interested clubs. "My mind is still the same," Vitek said. "I want to play. I want to play every week and that is the goal for next season." He credited 40-year-old team-mate Tom Heaton and goalkeeping coach Craig Mawson for their guidance: "I have been working here with Craig nearly six years now. And obviously with Tom as well, quite a long time. They have been massively important." Vitek, who has spent the past two-and-a-half years on loan, concluded: "I grew a lot person-wise, on the pitch as well." Where he will be playing next season remains to be seen.
