Real Madrid seal Yan Diomande deal after PSG withdraw – fee exceeds £100m

Real Madrid have won the race for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after Paris Saint-Germain formally withdrew from the bidding war, with the deal set to cost more than £100m.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants, modelled on Jude Bellingham’s performance-based contract, and is expected to fly to Madrid for a medical. The breakthrough came just days after Leipzig rejected Madrid’s opening proposal, with PSG having already had a final £102.5m bid turned down on Sunday.

Real Madrid agree £100m+ deal for Yan Diomande after PSG pull out of race.

“Paris Saint-Germain has this evening formally withdrawn its interest in and bids for Yan Diomande,” the French club said in a statement. “PSG will not break its principles of rational financial management and squad balance.”

Diomande, who joined Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes last summer on a five-year deal, was the Bundesliga’s young player of the season for 2025-26, scoring 12 goals and registering eight assists. He also played in all four of Ivory Coast’s World Cup matches this summer. Key Madrid negotiators Jose Angel and Juni Calafat have been scouting him for about five years.

Liverpool, who had an initial £69m bid rejected in June, have since turned their attention to PSG’s Bradley Barcola, though the French club values the winger at £145m. Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offer Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior the biggest contract in the club’s history, with the Brazilian currently earning £400,000 a week.

The Diomande deal is a record sale for Leipzig, who have found it difficult to reject the interest from Europe’s elite clubs. For PSG, the withdrawal marks a rare defeat in a high-profile transfer saga.
