A 17-year-old girl was raped at Guildford railway station after being separated from her friends, British Transport Police have said, as officers released CCTV images of a man they want to question.
The attack took place in January last year at around 7pm, as the victim and her friends walked to the station. A man approached them and tried to get her to board a train with him, which she declined, according to a statement from BTP. He then began asking to have sex with her, which she also refused. He allegedly separated her from her friends and raped her.
“Two teenage girls were sexually assaulted on trains or stations, with police releasing CCTV images of suspects.”
Det Sgt Nick Thompson said: “The person responsible for this horrific crime targeted a vulnerable victim who was just 17 years old at the time of the attack. “Specialist officers continue to support her and her family as we follow all lines of enquiry as part of our ongoing investigation.”
In a separate incident two months later, on March 14 just before 7pm, a man boarded a train at Crewe railway station having travelled from Liverpool and sat next to a teenage girl. He is then alleged to have sexually assaulted her before leaving the train at Manchester Piccadilly, BTP said.
Detectives released a CCTV image of a man they believe may have information that could help their investigation into the Crewe attack.
