Around 100 firefighters have been fighting through the night to extinguish a huge blaze at a Jaguar Land Rover service centre in Tottenham, with thick black smoke forcing road closures and rush-hour disruption across the area.
Fifteen fire engines from Edmonton, Enfield, Tottenham, Chingford, Walthamstow and surrounding stations were scrambled to the industrial estate near Watermead Way, where a two-storey warehouse – identified as a Jaguar Land Rover service centre – had become fully alight. A 32-metre turntable ladder from Tottenham Fire Station, later joined by two more from Soho, was deployed to tackle the flames from above.

The London Fire Brigade advised people living in the Haringey borough area to keep windows and doors closed as the smoke plume drifted over homes. By dawn, firefighters had managed to extinguish most of the flames, but ‘deep seated pockets of fire’ remained, according to the brigade, which said it would maintain a presence on site through the morning.
‘Firefighters have worked extremely hard through the night to extinguish this fire,’ a London Fire Brigade statement read. ‘The amount of smoke being produced by this fire was significant and we advised people, particularly within the Haringey borough area, to continue to keep their windows and doors closed.’
Road closures remain in place on Watermead Way at the junction of Leeside Road, and Google Maps indicated that the closures were expected to continue until at least midday. Motorists faced severe disruption during the morning rush hour as a result.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The blaze broke out at a warehouse next to Drumsheds, a well-known nightclub venue in the area.
