Two motorcycle riders are fighting for their lives after a collision on the M25 in Surrey that closed a key slip road for hours. The crash happened at about 5.45pm on Saturday on the clockwise link road at junction 12 onto the M3, a main artery for drivers heading towards attractions like Thorpe Park. The riders, a man in his 30s and a man in his 40s, suffered life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to hospital, Surrey Police said. Their next of kin have been informed. Police have closed the slip road from the M25 clockwise carriageway onto the M3 as they carry out crash investigation work, prompting delays of more than 33 minutes with three miles of congestion. Tailbacks were building up towards junction 10 for the A3, while traffic was also moving slowly on the opposite direction on the approach to the scene. Surrey Police appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam or helmet cam footage to come forward. ‘We are particularly interested in tracing the movements of the riders prior to the collision, and would like to speak to anyone who saw a group of motorcycle riders on the M25 in the minutes beforehand,’ the force said. National Highways confirmed the slip road would remain closed while police investigate.
