Leeds United have completed the club-record signing of defender Tarik Muharemovic for £34.1m from Sassuolo, while Bournemouth’s Alex Jimenez has joined Fiorentina on loan after being suspended over social media allegations.
The 21-year-old Jimenez was dropped from Bournemouth’s first team in May following what the club called a “serious matter” relating to “posts circulating on social media”. The Spain Under-21 international has now moved to Serie A side Fiorentina on a season-long loan, with a 20m euros (£17m) option to make the move permanent. “The club wishes Alex well for the season ahead as he links up with Fiorentina,” Bournemouth said. Jimenez initially joined the Cherries on loan from AC Milan before signing permanently in February on a deal running until 2031. He made 32 appearances last season, scoring once – a goal in a 3-2 home win over Liverpool in February.

Leeds, meanwhile, have secured their second signing of the summer after Harry Wilson’s free transfer from Fulham, bringing in Bosnia-Herzegovina international Muharemovic on a five-year deal. The 23-year-old replaces Pascal Struijk, who joined Brighton for £20m in June. “I will give everything for this club. I will give everything, every game,” Muharemovic said. “I just want to win. I hate to lose and I will fight for every ball, even if it is my head or my feet, I am going.”
Muharemovic made three appearances for Bosnia-Herzegovina at the World Cup, including in the last-32 defeat by co-hosts the United States. In that match, he was fouled by Folarin Balogun and the US forward was sent off, though his suspension was later waived by Fifa after an intervention from US President Donald Trump and White House officials.
Born in Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana, Muharemovic began his career in Austrian football, making his debut with Wolfsberger in 2021. After a spell at Italian giants Juventus, where he did not make a first-team appearance, he was sold to Sassuolo in 2025 following a successful loan. Juventus are reportedly set to receive 50% of the £34.1m fee because of a clause included in their sale of the defender last summer.
