Police are treating the death of a woman found at a remote cottage in Renfrewshire as murder, while the death of a man at the scene remains unexplained.
The body of Stacy Mair, 35, was discovered alongside a 43-year-old man at a property on Corsliehill Road in Houston, Johnstone, shortly before 7.50am on Monday, July 27. Emergency services had been called to the area after a report of concern for a person.

Initially, Police Scotland said both deaths were being treated as unexplained, but following a post-mortem examination, detectives confirmed they now believe Stacy was murdered. The cause of death will be established in due course.
The 43-year-old man’s death continues to be treated as unexplained pending the results of his own post-mortem. Police have said there is nothing to suggest anyone else is involved or any risk to the public.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Young, of the Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with the families of those affected by this incident. They are understandably devastated, and we are providing them with support through specialist officers at this incredibly difficult time.”
Chief Inspector Iain Farmer added: “This is a deeply upsetting incident for the families involved, and the impact is felt right across the local community. I am grateful for the support we have received as we complete our essential enquires to ensure the families and local residents get the answers they need.”
Officers from the Major Investigation Team and local policing division remain at the scene, carrying out forensic examinations and scouring nearby woodland. The couple, who married in 2019, both worked for TRS Tree Surgery, based in Glasgow, according to neighbours.
